Same-Week Crown Cases: What Labs Need

Rush cases fail when the file is incomplete. A stat label does not replace a margin, a bite, or a shade. Here is how to get a unit back this week.
Call before you promise the patient a day
Capacity changes. If you need a unit for Friday morning, call Thursday morning with a complete file — not Friday at 11 a.m. with a missing opposing.
Phoenix Dental Tech will tell you yes or no. A no with an alternative (PMMA temp, Monday finish) is better than a yes we cannot keep.
Rush still needs a complete case
Margin, opposing, bite, shade, tooth number, material. If you skip one to “save time,” you donate that time back at insert or remake.
Write “stat — patient in pain / broken #19 / needs seat Friday.” Context helps us prioritize without guessing the clinical risk.
What we can accelerate
Design and monolithic milling move quickly. Stain-and-glaze, shipping across the state, and custom implant parts do not shrink just because the Rx says rush.
Local Ocean Township pickup or courier can recover a day that shipping would lose. Ask when you send.
FAQ
Can every crown be a 48-hour case?
Standard single-unit zirconia with a complete file often can. Layered anteriors, implant parts we do not stock, and unclear shades cannot be honestly promised overnight.
